Samphire Cargo arranges import customs formalities at all major UK ports and airports. Shipments entering the UK require clearance through HMRC using a variety of customs regimes including Home Use, Inward Processing Relief, Bond, and Bond Diversion
HMRC police UK customs clearance declarations primarily for revenue and statistical purposes according to regulations laid down by the European Commission, but also act for, and in conjunction with, many other government departments. These include the Department for Business, Innovation, and Skills (BIS); The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES); Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Department for Transport – and local authorities, such as Port Health amongst others.
Samphire Cargo has direct links to CHIEF, HMRC’s current computer system (though due to be replaced by the new CDS system) as well as the main inventory systems used at the UK’s major ports i.e. Pentant (Dover & Stop24), Destin8 (Felixstowe & Thamesport) and CNS (London Gateway, Southampton & Tilbury).
Samphire Cargo can also assist with Port Health, Trading Standards, and other Government Department interventions and supply other port health-related documents including Procedure for Electronic Application for Certificates, Common Veterinary Entry Documents (CVED) and Common Health Entry Document (CHED).
We also hold our own Deferment Account assisting importers who do not hold a facility to account for import Duties and VAT themselves.
Our long-established team offer a full range of freight and customs services throughout the UK, Europe and across the globe.
